Opuntia Ficus Indica
“Among the lines that write my memories I never found unnumbered prickly pear cactus, fallen buttocks, nor prickly pear cactus with a culimetic bearing, but divine prickly pear cactus opuntia ficus-indica. Nopal, palera fig, penca and prickly pear, thank you for your palas and your figs. Thank you for your sweet prickly pears: amarilla, camuesa, cardona, chavena, duraznilla, leonera, mansa, pachona, palmita, pintadera, ranchera, tapona, teca and also for your sour xoconostle, which beyond Mesoamerica where you are in nahuatl, nopalli and in quechua caitias, huaquru, mancaullu and paullunchu, you became alquira, penco, chumbera and tuna fig: chumbo, de pala, blanquillo, de viña, de Indias, de pico … and malagueño amarillo.”
